It is all the rage to discuss PRO biotics. They a6re useful, and especially needed if we take a course of antibiotics. Prevailing opinion seems to say that probiotics should not be taken all the time. However PRE-biotics, which are essentially the food for the good bacteria in the probiotics, can be taken much more often. Many of us get enough in our diet, primarily as various forms of fiber. However supplementing with prebiotics could be a good idea for many.
