Using Bitters Part 2

So how do we consume our bitters? Which ones to take? Krispin has gone through many of the offerings, and turns out the very common Angostura Bitters, which can be found in most supermarkets, is the one. The bitter ingredient is Gentian. Taking pure Gentian is likely too much, but after taking Angostura for a few months, I bought Gentian.  Root Extract and now I add it to the Angostura to make it more bitters (gradually more Gentian root extract as I get used to the taste). Since the taste receptors ar on the back of the tongue, an effective way to take it is in a shot glass, and simply “throw it back”. The amount does not need to be big. Experiment with what works for you.
