Does Intermittent Fasting Really Work?

Intermittent fasting is a somewhat trendy weight loss tactic that has gained tremendous popularity in recent times. I caught up with Dr. John Sottery who has done a deep dive into intermittent fasting or time restricted eating, and he explained why this is such a powerful strategy for so much more than just weight loss. In this episode of The Adiel Gorel Show, I speak with Dr. Sottery about concepts such as cellular senescence, autophagy and intermittent fasting, and he has some very fascinating insights to share.

The specifics of intermittent fasting.

John is someone who has practiced intermittent fasting for a while and believes it has many benefits beyond weight loss. Not only has he lost the layer of fat that overlaid his midsection, but he also finds that this has changed his metabolism.
More importantly, John explains how intermittent fasting helps with the body’s cell cleanup processes. This could help prevent dysfunctional mitochondria and in turn prevent diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and so on. I picked John’s brain about the process by which intermittent fasting works, and about the right intervals at which one should eat when practicing it.
It was a fascinating and educational chat with Dr. John Sottery for me. Listen in to know what he told me about the right intervals for fasting and more about his personal experiences with this.
Through my show I strive to help improve health, not just prolong life, and this conversation with Dr. Sottery is power-packed with a lot of very useful information. Use it to improve your health, and consequently increase your wellbeing and wealth. Don’t miss it!
